The headline results are as follows:
However, the UK is deeply divided when it comes to country level opinion on which leader would make the best DJ at an ‘all party party’. Scotland thinks Jo Swinson has the best music taste, whilst Wales backs Boris Johnson as their DJ and both England and Northern Ireland are crazy for Jeremy Corbyn.
The country is only united in its belief that Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage has the worst music taste of any political leader. Only in Nottingham, where he was pelted with eggs in 2014, thought Farage’s music taste was better than any other party leader.
ROXi CEO Rob Lewis said: “As we head towards the election this ROXi poll shows more Brits trust Jeremy Corbyn to be the nation’s DJ than BoJo, Swinson or Farage. Notes to Editors – ROXi Poll Results:
LIVERPOOL – Labour Leader Most Loved in The Beatle’s Home Town
The most fervent support for Corbyn as a Master of Music comes from Liverpool with 46% of Scousers expressing a preference agreeing that “OH J-E-REM-Y COR-BYN” has the best taste in music. Here Boris received 31% of the vote, Jo Swinton 12% and Farage just 9% of the vote.
NOTTINGHAM – The Only City Making Plans For Nigel
Despite pelting him with eggs in 2014, the people of Nottingham stand alone in their belief that Nigel Farage has the best taste in music of any political leader. 35% of Nottingham think Farage, who almost filled a 700 seat Nottingham venue with Brexit Party supporters ahead of the European Parliamentary Elections in April this year. We think they must be yoking!
NON-VOTERS PREFER BORIS JOHNSON
Boris Johnson’s taste in music proved most popular with people who don’t intend to vote (42%) compared to the 28% voting for Jeremy Corbyn, 23% for Nigel Farage and just 4% voting for Jo Swinson.
JEZ WINS THE YOUTH VOTE
Youth plays a big part in positive perceptions about Corbyn’s music taste with 43% of 16-24 year olds, 37% of those still living with their parents and a whopping 50% of those not yet eligible to vote with an opinion on which leader has the best music taste voting for Jeremy Corbyn. It remains to be seen if support for Corbyn amongst young people has been influenced by Jez’ famous Glastonbury speeches, public support from big name artists including Stormzy and Lily Allen, or his rebellious manifesto pledges including scrapping University tuition fees.
BUT THE OVER 55’s ARE HOT FOR BoJo
More UK poll respondents over the age of 55 think Boris Johnson has the best music taste of any UK party leader with 36% of the vote compared to 22% for Corbyn, and just over 20% of votes going to Swinson and Farage respectively.
