If you’re in need of a laugh, there’s a genre of music that will never win awards or get praise from critics but has the power to transport us back to childhood within seconds of hearing their ridiculous noises.
Novelty records used to top the charts with alarming regularity. Who on earth bought them? You’d probably not admit it but, depending on your age, we’re pretty sure you spent your hard-earned pocket money on Remember You’re A Womble, Swing The Mood by Jive Bunny or Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble by PJ & Duncan (whatever happened to those guys?) And be honest: secretly we still love them.
Head to Top Playlists / Moods / Party for singing soap stars, disco ducks, and whatever Flat Eric was, along with some “classic” nostalgic TV theme tunes – we break them down by decade in our 70s, 80s and 90s Novelty Hits playlists. Play these to the kids and you’ll never be able to convince them that music was better in your day.
