This week: Celebrating Valentine’s Day and Carole King’s Tapestry
The Fourteenth of February
If after nearly a year of lockdown with your loved one you can still stand the sight of them, congratulations! That is absolutely cause for celebration. Given the limited options we currently have when it comes to showing our partners what they mean to us — how about whisking them away on a romantic getaway to the OTHER couch? — our Valentine’s Day Dinner playlist will help set the mood for perhaps a lovely home-cooked meal or the 2,000th pizza delivery of quarantine.
With tender classics from Marvin Gaye, Katie Melua, Norah Jones, and more, we can help you set the scene: Break out the fancy plates you keep for guests, light some candles, and appreciate the patience your better half has for all the bad habits you have been unable to suppress during this time of forced ‘round-the-clock togetherness.
And if you find yourself uncoupled this year, we’ve created a playlist named after exactly what you should be doing: Celebrate Being Single. Give yourself all the love with empowering anthems from the likes of Dua Lipa, Blackpink, Britney Spears, and Alicia Keys and take full control over the telly. You’ve had the strength to not text your ex during these trying times and you deserve a night dedicated to you alone.
Find both playlists in our handmade Love In Lockdown Valentine’s card, only on ROXi.
A Half-Century of Tapestry
Songwriting powerhouse Carole King released her second solo album, Tapestry, 50 years ago this week and now is a great time to revisit it. From I Feel the Earth Move to It’s Too Late to You’ve Got a Friend, it’s chock-full of classics and has more than earned its space on many Best Albums of All Time lists. Find it by searching “Carole King Tapestry” on ROXi.
